This is a two-tone stainless steel and gold Rolex Daytona model 116523 with Black Dial with Gold Inlay Sub Dials. It's a collector's item which has hardly ever been used; this watch is in pristine Mint condition, and it's shipped in its original box, with all the original documentation and certificates.

It's amazing just how far Rolex had gone with the Daytona series... but then again, most things about the leading luxury watch manufacturer are nothing less than amazing. When the first Daytonas were released in 1961 (being named after 24 Hours of Daytona race, which Rolex then sponsored), it wasn't met with too much enthusiasm from the public. In fact, early models were sold for relatively low prices... and nowadays they're among the most valuable collector's items available from Rolex.

Needless to say - and despite initial consumer's resistance - the Daytona series has indeed thrived and prospered, and nowadays it's probably the most diverse lines of watches carrying the emblematic triple crown. Daytona Cosmographs now come in a wide range of colors and materials; among the two-tone versions, this is one of our favorite models; it combines the sober Daytona look with a superb dial that's strikingly vivid with its golden markers and hands made of solid gold.
